The tablet wars are alive and well as more manufacturers come out with their second generation devices, many running the tablet-specific Android 3.0 operating system that was once exclusive to Motorola’s Xoom. Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 is one of the newer devices, offering all the top of the line specs you’ve come to expect in a larger 10.1-inch chassis.

Within the larger tablet maker battles, there is also a battle for processor supremacy. Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, and to a smaller extent Samsung are all vying for the coveted processor spot in many of today’s tablets and smartphones. NVIDIA won the spot in Acer’s tablet, along with a number of other models, sporting its popular Tegra 2 dual core chip running at 1GHz. The GeForce graphics are stout enough to handle any gaming duties you might want to take up on the Iconia Tab, which should come across crisp and clear on the 10.1-inch 1280×800 display.

A full gigabyte of RAM is included to ensure a smooth user experience and no performance issues while multitasking like a boss. 16GB of storage is built-in, but you can grow that as needed via the integrated microSD slot. Dual facing webcams let you snap photos and video conference at your leisure, while Bluetooth and 802.11n WiFi round out the connectivity options.

Normally this high end tablet costs $449, but TigerDirect is offering it for a competitive $399 and tossing in a fat $100 store gift card.
